Toyota Creates V2H Power Share System

There are many great advantages to having an electric vehicle that we here at Elk Grove Toyota, serving drivers in the greater Sacramento area could talk about. One of the things we think would be cool to see is EV and hybrid vehicles having the capability to serve as a backup power source when homes lose electricity. Apparently, we aren't alone, as Toyota has thought about it too, and are developing a system they hope will make it possible.

This transferrable energy isn't limited to EVs, hybrids, or to the home either. The idea is to support energy sharing among vehicles, so one EV or hybrid to another in a system called V2H Power Sharing.

More testing is expected to begin later in the year, but there are many ways Toyota has already implemented technology that can help in the event of a disaster and power is lost. It comes in the form of the Toyota Prius and its PHV variant in Japan, which can provide four days of power to a typical Japanese household on a full charge.

It's pretty amazing stuff if you ask us. We're really looking forward to seeing how it develops.

In the meantime, if you'd like to check out the Toyota Prius or any of our other new Toyota vehicles, feel free to stop in to Elk Grove Toyota, located at 9650 West Stockton Blvd Elk Grove, CA 95757. We're always happy to discuss each model in greater detail as well as arranging test drives.
