Toyota Aims to Produce 25 millionth Car in 2012

When we here at Elk Grove Toyota brag about our favorite Japanese automaker, we don't do it just to hear ourselves talk. Toyota really is the gold standard when it comes to new and used cars alike; something that not many others can truly proclaim. This is proven by the sheer number of automotive milestones that the company has achieved since it first began producing vehicles in the 1930s, and in 2012 they'll set their biggest one to date!

We're, of course, talking about the fact that Toyota is anticipating the completion of its 25 millionth car in 2012. Of course a feat like this isn't easy for a company like Toyota to pull off either, especially in recent months. As Shigeki Terashi, President and COO of TEMA explains, "Despite a challenging year due to the earthquake and tsunami in Japan that caused limited parts availability, Toyota's team members and supplying partners were able to ramp up production ahead of schedule . . . This kind of commitment and customer-first spirit will set the stage for growth over the course of the year."1

Of course, in spite of its parts availability concerns and recovery efforts, Toyota still managed to achieve a number of other production milestones that have length themselves to this largest one to do. Specifically, they...

-    Expanded their West Virginia manufacturing plan to build six-speed automatic transmissions
-    Extended the production of 4-cylinder engines in Alabama
-    Constructed a whole new facility in Mississippi
-    And will have set plans in motion to produce a new RAV4 EV

Can we really say that it's any  shock that Toyota would not only fight back from the disaster that once plagued them, but also recharge to be stronger than ever? Of course not.
