The Toyota Technical Center is where all Toyota engineering innovation in safety and performance goes through rigorous testing and implementation before being found in Toyota vehicles here at Elk Grove Toyota. Soon, the center will be getting bigger, as the Japanese automaker announced recently an expansion of the workforce to focus on new developments in Toyota technology.

The plan is to hire a total of 250 engineers; 150 will come aboard in the near future, while another 100 will be hired over a five-year period. The newly-hired 150 will hit the ground running to continue to enhance the mechanical design and powertrain offerings of all new Toyota models. Those 100 to be hired at a later date over five years will focus their efforts towards engine and transmission development.

It's a pretty big initiative, but it's not all Toyota has planned either. The opening of a new Toyota Technical Center in the Silicon Valley is also on the docket. This new office will be part of a collaborative effort among many Toyota partners to innovate the Toyota Entune, the automaker's in-vehicle infotainment system. The enhancement of infotainment is fast becoming an important feature for Toyota, especially as technology continues to grow and evolve, hence, Toyota views it as important to bring it to the forefront in its Mountain View, CA offices.
