Toyota Allows Backseat Drivers to Have Their Fun

While we all hate backseat drivers who nag at us while we try and pay attention to the road, we here at Elk Grove Toyota can't help but think that you'll be thanking Toyota for empowering the habit in a new way to a younger demographic. While this might sound like a horrible idea at first, we guarantee that you'll have a hard time finding anything to hate about the new "Backseat Driver" app from Toyota.
Why is Toyota empowering backseat drivers? They aren't really... Rather the first offering from Toyota's new brand ToyToyota is an iPhone game for kids to play while their parent drives. The game makes use of GPS in order to allow the player to follow the "Papa Car" in real time, on an actual map. Oh, and in case you didn't guess by now, the name of the app is "Backseat Driver."
At its core, Backseat Driver can really be described as a casual racing game. The player's goal as they chase Papa Car is to earn points by making clean turns and to collect various object. Toyota will allow users of the app to share their routes that they have traveled with Papa Car on Twitter. Drivers can also compare their performances with other players if they seek a real sense of competition.
But, we think that the best thing about the Backseat Driver app is that it is a free download. It does require an iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad with iOS 4.1 or later. But, since that is a free update for anyone with a compatible device, we can't imagine anyone objecting to it.
