Is the Toyota Prius Ready for the Track?

Overseas, the Super GT Series in Japan is known for some of the hottest racing action around. Previously, Toyota was known for unleashing the Corolla Axio GT300 on the track, but some new rules to the GT300 segment has the automaker considering other areas of performance. Specifically, a vehicle entered into this segment is now strictly limited to 300-hp, and it's forcing many automakers to go back to the drawing board all together, Toyota included.

We here at Elk Grove Toyota are excited about this move because the realm of performance that Toyota is now exploring is fuel economy, and they're doing it by placing the hybrid Toyota Prius on the track. Wait, the Prius? Alright, alright, we admit, we've never thought about it as a real racer either, but Toyota could be onto something. After all, they only need to work a little of that TRD magic to soup the lauded fuel saver up into a real contender, and if the image that was recently leaked online is any indicator of things to come, you can bet that it will be leaving the competition in the dust!

In the picture, the Toyota Prius GT300 sports a lower suspension, rear spoiler, a body kit, and other racing specs. We'd dare to say that it's the most aggressively-styled Prius we've ever seen! But what about under the hood? While we can count on the fact that the Prius GT300 will be a hybrid, we haven't heard any word on what increases to the vehicle's stock performance there will be. Still, if Toyota even does half the work under the hood that it did on the exterior, you can count on one fast ride!

Of course, if you'd prefer to stick to the original Toyota Prius, we won't blame you. In fact, we'll even arrange a test drive on one or any of the other new Toyota models that we carry here at 9640 West Stockton Blvd. Elk Grove, CA  95757, if you contact us online or by phone at (877) 312-4647. We can shed some light on any models you've been considering, whether it be the Toyota Avalon, Highlander, or Camry Hybrid, or even any of the used Toyota that we carry in our larger lineup of used cars.
