Toyota Partners with Microsoft

Toyota is partnering with Microsoft to create an in-car electronics system designed to aid the efficiency of their battery-powered vehicles. Both companies will invest one-million yen ($11.7 billion) in a Toyota subsidiary that will provide data services for drivers.

Toyota and Microsoft indicate the forthcoming system will incorporate a suite of telematics services, including data, navigation, in-car entertainment and multimedia. Powered by Window's Azure cloud computing platform, it may also be employed to manage energy usage in vehicles. Earthquake Halts Scion Production

We are hoping orders of the 2011 Scion tC won't be delayed after the tragic earthquake and tsunami that hit a region of Japan earlier this month. The Japanese auto maker, owned by Toyota, has been struggling to come back from this natural disaster.

Scion / Toyota announced that production stoppage at all plants will continue indefinitely. We heard rumors that some stamping equipment at the Kanto Auto Works plant, where Scion xD and Scion xB are built, had been displaced. But only now is the full extent of this quake seen.
